What's involved

Charging at home, set up properly

A wall charger is the easy way to live with an EV — plug in when you get home and it's topped up by morning. Getting there properly means a dedicated circuit, the right protection on the switchboard and a spot that suits where you actually park.

We'll check your switchboard can take the extra load, mount the charger neatly and fit an isolator next to it, so it's safe to work on and easy to switch off.

FAQ

EV Charger Installation questions, answered

Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?

Yes — a wall charger should run on its own circuit with the right protection. We'll check your switchboard has the room and capacity before we install.

Can I just charge from a normal power point?

Many EVs come with a portable charger that plugs into a standard power point, but it charges slowly. A wall charger is much quicker and built for everyday overnight charging.

Will I need a switchboard upgrade?

Sometimes. If your board is full or still has ceramic fuses, it may need work first — we'll look at it and let you know before you commit.

Need a sparky this week?
